Identity is a business continuity problem

In 2026, identity weaknesses show up in nearly 90% of breach investigations. We are still in meetings debating firewall rules.

I’ve sat across from enough security leaders to see the pattern clearly. Your organisation has more non-human identities than human ones: service accounts, API keys, AI agents, automated workflows. Each one carries permissions. Each one is capable of lateral movement. Most of them are ungoverned.

Nobody onboarded them. Nobody reviews them. Nobody will notice when one gets compromised, because to your monitoring tools they look exactly like normal operations.

The breach won’t look like a breach. It will look like Tuesday.

We spent a decade building Zero Trust for humans. We forgot to ask what happens when the identity has no face, no badge and no one accountable for it.

Identity is not an IAM team problem any more. It is a business continuity problem. When did you last audit your non-human identities?
